Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come watch a class or drop in?

Class is an intimate atmosphere and observers are welcome only during the open house and showcase. Check our Now Playing page to learn about events.

I'm new to acting. Is this program right for me?

Beginners are welcome!! The real question to ask is, will this technique work for you?  The class requires a commitment to self-understanding and openness.  If you're not into dealing with your feelings and are uncomfortable with "seeing the real you," this class is probably not for you.

How much does the program cost?

Tuition is $300 per semester. Tuition must be paid in full before of the first day of class. Scholarships are available on a limited basis. Payment plans are no longer accepted. Class is paid for semester-by-semester.

Is this a theatre?

No. This is a training ground for actors in the Meisner technique. While we do not currently hold our own productions, we perform scenes from plays and screenplays in the popular end-of-semester showcases.

Can I get a private acting session?  Can you help me with my upcoming audition?

Coaching is available for the rate of $100/hr.  These private sessions are tailored to fit the needs of the actor (for example: cold reading work, monologue work, scene study, audition training, technique study, taped auditions, headshot- and resumé advice).

I'm advanced but I want to continue to train. Should I join?

This class can challenge seasoned actors to make personal discoveries that deepen their emotional life and risk-taking ability. Private coaching is a great option if you're not looking to start a new technique but seek fresh, new acting challenges (scroll down for more info).

Can I take this class if I don't want to be an actor?

Plenty of people take class for their own reasons, and many students report amazing personal growth benefits. There is no requirement to "be an actor" beyond the class work.

What is a typical class like?

Every semester level - from beginners to advanced - study together in the same class. We do Meisner exercises usually in partners in which you practice the technique skills in your semester level, and we do a feedback sesssion. Actors go up at least once each class.  For details, click here. Two-thirds of the semester is dedicated to technique practice, and the last third incorporates scene study which we perform in a showcase. Click here to learn more about our program.

What are the program dates?

The semester calendar is as follows:

Spring semester - January-April
Summer semester - May-July / Teen Summer Program: June-July
Fall semester - September-December

How does enrollment work?

New students can start every semester.  Enrollment is first-come, first-serve based on spot availability for the coming session.  No drop-ins, thank you. We are currently housed at the Limelight Theatre at Old Mission Ave. in uptown St. Augustine.  For class details and to register, click here.

What if the upcoming session is full?

We keep our class size small due to the intensity of our work, and to ensure every gets plenty of time on stage.  If the upcoming session is full, students may be placed on a waitlist for the next semester.
